Many fun things to do in downtown Winnipeg

.

Summer is a great time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful sunny and warm weather right here in Winnipeg. Why not take an extended lunch break over the next month and…

  • Attend an Out to Lunch concert. These concert series are taking place every Wednesday until mid-August this summer. Located at the Air Canada Park (355 Portage Avenue at Carlton), the concerts go from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. They are free to all who are interested, and the concerts feature fantastic local talent including the Salinas band, The Dead Stringers, Kyla Cederwall and others. Enjoy these hour-long performances rain or shine! Chairs are provided for all who attend and you are invited to bring your own lunch to the concerts.
  • Practice yoga. Maybe you have been meaning to check out a yoga studio but just haven’t gotten around to it yet, or maybe you feel a little bit intimidated by going into a class setting – but either way, Yoga in the Park is a fun and energizing way to try out yoga and see if it’s for you. These free sessions are open to the public from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m., every Thursday at Memorial Park. Just bring your mat, a bottle of water and perhaps a small donation for the instructor. Free outdoor yoga to break up the work day? Yes please.
  • Learn how to zumba. This Latin dance-inspired fitness activity is well worth giving a spin. Join the free session every Tuesday this summer from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. at Memorial Park. All you need to bring is your sense of fun and adventure! Bonus: you’ll get a great view of the Legislative Buildings while you try out your moves.
  • Eat lunch at a new restaurant patio. Have lunch for $10 at a variety of restaurants in downtown Winnipeg such as Lobby on York, Hermanos, Tavern United, The Velvet Glove, and many others. This fun Let’s Do Lunch Downtown edition also offers you the opportunity to win a downtown restaurant tour! Learn more about the participating restaurants and the menus they offer at www.downtownwinnipegbiz.com/home/events/dinedowntown. Choose a table on the patio of any restaurant listed for a great view of the downtown Winnipeg skyline, historic buildings, or simply the continuous bustle of downtown Winnipeg life.

These events are all great opportunities to get outside and enjoy the weather, invite your colleagues out to experience the activities Winnipeg has to offer, and see a new perspective on downtown Winnipeg that you may not have caught before. It’s sure to keep you busy all summer long!
