Granite Counters: A wise home-improvement choice.

Hello everyone:

One of the most common questions I get from home-sellers is: “What type of home renovation would add the most value to my home?”granite

Assuming that the house or condo does not have any glaring defects, such as leaky windows, poor shingles, etc etc, the most important room in the house is the kitchen, far and above any other.  This is the one room where family tends to gather, meals are prepared and often consumed, and has clearly become the focal point of the home.   This fact is reinforced over and over, with each house I show to buyers.

Home-sellers sometimes decide to ‘fix up’ their homes prior to selling, and invest money and time in renovating the kitchen.  In doing so, the question arises: “Should we invest a little more and go for granite counters, instead of the standard wood, preformed countertops?”

In a word: absolutely.  Granite is one of those features which gives your home that “wow” factor, stopping buyers in their tracks.  I sometimes have buyers who place “granite counters” high on their wish list of features for their dream home.  They understand that granite provides a lasting, low maintenance counter surface, which ads not only beauty but also value to the home.  In fact, its a shame to wait until you’re ready to sell your home to install a granite counter.  Home owners will find this to be a very worthwhile investment, adding beauty and functionality to any kitchen, bathroom or bar area.

If you’re in the market for a home improvement project, consider adding granite counters to your home.
